Heaven Scent – Roll-On Perfume

Disclaimer: This product was provided to me for a review.

I’m excited to share with you my review of Heaven Scent Roll-On Perfume in the scent of Winter – The First Crow.

Winter was inspired by the character named Winter from the web toon “Rise from Ashes”.

This will be available for purchase December 2 at 10AM CST through December 6 at 11PM CST. $9.00 and no cap!

Winter is a ghost, a ghost that loves her house. She is a weak ghost, a wisp, until people come trespassing into her house. Then she shows how strong she really is. It turns out that Winter isn’t really just a wisp but the Ghost of the First Crow, an order of physics that manage and/or exorcise ghosts. Season 2 ended with a cliffhanger while the creator went on maternity leave.

Winter – The First Crow is scented in lemon, orange, grapefruit, apple, clove, cinnamon, cassia bark, cardamom, ginger, carrot, nutmeg, vanilla, buttercream, and maple. It smells very Christmassy.

This perfume has a wonderful scent. The strongest notes for me were cinnamon and nutmeg. It’s sweet but not cloying. The scent is long lasting; I applied it in the morning and could still notice it several hours later. The blue shimmer gives it a beautiful glow in the bottle but it’s very subtle on the skin. The rollerball makes it very easy to apply.

Shauna has owned Heaven Scent Treasure Candies for 4 years. She opened for sales late in 2015. While she specializes in jewelry hidden in candles and wax melts, she has branched off into plain wax melts and roll-on perfume. She also makes soaps and is planning to expand into lotions and other body care.

Slipper Socks

Today’s post is about my latest knitting project. A few months ago, I discovered a hole in the bottom of my favorite pair of slipper socks. I loved these socks – they were soft, warm, purple and slightly too big so I could kick them off if my feet got too hot. I searched for a new pair at various stores but I couldn’t find any that were a perfect replacement.

And then I realized that I was wasting time trying to find socks when I could just make my own. I’m a knitter…I could choose the yarn, the color and size them to my feet! I just needed a pattern so I googled “knitted slipper sock pattern” and found this pattern…

Slipper Socks

The pattern was simple enough to follow. I found the perfect yarn from my stash and started knitting. I used Bernat Baby Blanket yarn. It’s slightly chunky and so soft. I wasn’t sure how the first sock would turn out but I just kept knitting and checking the measurements until it was done. The second sock was much easier and I finished my pair in a couple of weeks. Since these were just for me, I didn’t worry about fixing errors or uneven gauge. I was extremely pleased with my socks. They are soft, warm and big enough to slip off under my blanket. I showed my husband the finished product and he requested a pair.

For his pair, I knit the pattern in stockinette instead of garter and I kept my gauge mostly even. I measured the length of his foot from heel to toe and adjusted the circumference of the sock to fit his leg. Here is what the sock looks like after knitting but before sewing up the back edge, front edge and toe. The red line indicates where I folded the sock in half to sew the edges.

And here is the sock after sewing the edges and turning it purl-side out.

I’m going to use puffy paint to create treads on the bottom of his socks as we have hardwood flooring and the socks are a bit slippery. These socks were a fun and easy project and our feet are nice and warm!

KT♥K8 Cuticle Oil Update

Disclaimer: This product was provided to me for a review. (https://ktk8oil.ecwid.com/, https://www.facebook.com/ktk8oil/).

Hello, Everyone!

I have an update on my experience using KT♥K8’s cuticle oil. I used this oil exclusively for the last month except for a few days as I forgot to pack it for a weekend trip.

I noticed a significant improvement in the health of my sidewalls and how quickly they healed if they split. The splitting is inevitable as it’s winter and my hands are drier than normal. Despite the cold weather, I haven’t had a hangnail since I started using this product! Also, I was able to increase my nail length over the last few weeks but I have since trimmed them down to make it easier to type.

I really enjoyed testing this product. It has a pleasant scent, absorbs quickly, and doesn’t feel greasy. I believe it has greatly improved the health of my nails, cuticles and sidewalls.

I hope you enjoyed my review of KT♥K8’s cuticle oil. Thanks for reading!

KT♥K8 Cuticle Oil

Disclaimer: This product was provided to me for a review. (https://ktk8oil.ecwid.com/, https://www.facebook.com/ktk8oil/).

Hello, Everyone!

I have a new brand of cuticle oil to show you today from KT♥K8. I will be using this product multiple times daily and will post weekly updates with photos.

From the product insert: Cuticle oil, when used continuously, can help restore health and balance to the nail plate. This results in nails that are more likely to bend instead of snap or break. This oil is nut free but it’s recommended that you test a small patch up to 48 hours before regular use if you have nut allergies. Please note that oils could be processed and packaged in a facility that also works with nut oils.

I received the Harvest Berry scented oil. The scent is very pleasant. It’s not too subtle but not too strong. I detect notes of cinnamon, vanilla and berries…yummy (but please do not consume)!

Here are my nails before applying the oil. You can see my dry cuticles and nail beds (thanks, winter!). I tend to get more hangnails and dry patches on my sidewalls so I am looking forward to seeing how this product helps with those issues.

I applied one drop of oil to the base of each nail near the cuticle and let it sit. Then I massaged it into each nail and finger up to my first knuckle. This oil soaks in quickly and my fingers didn’t feel greasy.

I will be back in a week with progress photos. Thanks for reading!

For the Love of Polish Box – April

Hi Everyone!

Today I have the April edition of the For The Love Of Polish box. This is a monthly box featuring Polished for Days, Pahlish and a guest maker. This month’s guest maker is Tonic Polish and the theme is Dragons!

Pahlish – Madam Mim

This polish is a bright lavender with holo flakes and chameleon flakes. It was a bit sheer on the first coat but it was fully opaque on the second coat. I see a good amount of pink flakes in there along with some pink shimmer. This was easy to apply and despite the amount of flakes, removal was easy as well. My swatch is two coats and a glossy top coat.

Polished for Days – Dragon Breath

This polish is a purple-red base with holo flakes and red to copper shifting shimmer. This polish is definitely a vampy color but the holo flakes give it a nice sparkle. This was easy to apply and remove. I had no staining. My swatch shows two coats and a glossy top coat.

Tonic Polish – Draccus

This polish was tricky to photograph. The official description is a deep teal with purple to copper shimmer. The purple shimmer is very dominant though my pictures show more of a blue tone. I was able to catch the copper to green shimmer at an extreme angle. There is a soft but gorgeous linear holo running throughout. This polish was easy to apply and remove with no staining. My swatch shows two coats and a glossy top coat.

Thanks again for stopping by to check out my swatches!

March Polish Pickup Pack – Books

Hi Everyone!

I have a whole bunch of polishes to show you today. These are from March’s round of Polish Pickup Pack. The theme for March was books! I hope you enjoy my swatches.

Alter Ego – Midsummer Night’s Dream

This is a new-to-me brand. I love the unique bottle shape and the brush was easy to control. This polish is a smooth silver foil. Application was easy. I was worried about visible brush strokes but the polish glided on smoothly. My swatch is two coats and a glossy top coat. My macro shot revealed tiny blue specks which I was not expecting.

B Polished – Like Anybody Reads In The Library

This is a gorgeous soft pink to purple thermal with color-coordinating flakes. The cold state is a glowing purple; the warm state is the soft pink. The flakes give this polish a beautiful depth in both states. Application was smooth and easy. My swatch shows two coats and a glossy top coat. I think my macro captured the thermal transition nicely.

CrowsToes – Stellla!

This polish is a gunmetal base loaded with glitter of every color! I don’t know if it’s possible to get any more glitter in one bottle! The first coat was almost full-coverage especially below my free edge but I did two coats for a fuller look. Even with all that glitter, the polish was smooth before top coat. The glossy top coat really pumped up the sparkle. I love glitter bombs because they have so much going on but removal can sometimes be a pain. This polish, however, removed cleanly and easily.

Fair Maiden Polish – You Do It Too!

Multichrome base, holo glitter and iridescent glitter – what a beautiful combination! This polish is a soft purple-red base that shifts to gold and green. It is bursting with holo and iridescent glitter that perfectly compliment the shifts in the base color. My swatch shows two smooth coats and a glossy top coat. I tried to capture all the shifts in still pictures…check out the macro!

Fancy Gloss – Captured Butterfly

This is a stunning teal green to violet thermal with turquoise shimmer and tiny pink flakes. The cold state is gorgeous teal green that blends nicely with the vibrant violet of the warm state. The turquoise shimmer is very visible in both states. My swatch shows two coats and a glossy top coat. Without top coat, this polish dries to a satin finish. I tried to capture the tiny pink flakes in the macro shot.

Illyrian Polish – Narrow Sea

This polish is a blue-leaning teal base with red-gold-green shifting shimmer and small bright blue sparks. This was fully opaque in two coats. The red-gold-green shimmer really shines through even though the base does seem dark at certain angles. The bright blue sparks pop nicely against the base color and shimmer.

Nvr Enuff – If You’re A Bird, I’m A Bird

Here’s a gorgeous magenta-red chrome polish with soft linear holo and tiny blue and silver flakes. My swatch shows two smooth coats for full opacity. The base color is so versatile – bright enough for a great spring manicure but the red is perfect for the holidays, too. The soft linear holo and silver and blue flakes give this polish a nice depth.

Pahlish – The Land Of Tears

This polish features a green to blue shifting shimmer and a generous amount of holo flakies swimming in a gorgeous violet jelly base. The holo flakies show up nicely against the shifting base. It was almost fully opaque in just one coat but my swatch is two coats (plus gloss top coat) for full coverage on my free edge.

Quixotic Polish – The Girl Who Stood On A Grave

This polish is a gray base with teal-blue-purple-red shifting shimmer and a light scattered holo. The shifting shimmer transitions beautifully and the scattered holo pops nicely against the soft base color. My swatch shows two coats and a glossy top coat.

Supermoon Lacquer – I Would Walk 417 Miles

Here’s a stunning charcoal gray polish with a whole lot of shimmer, flakes and sparks! The base is a deep charcoal with scattered holo. The flash of the blue and red sparks and the purple shimmer really shine through. There are tiny bright blue flakes in there, too! My swatch shows one coat – yes, ONE COAT for full coverage (and a glossy top coat)!

Top Shelf Lacquer – For Pete’s Sake

Want to see a super shifty multichrome polish with shifting flakes and scattered holo? Here it is! The base shifts from blue to vibrant purple, then red and green. It is full of chameleon flakes that shift from pink to orange to bright green and scattered holo glitter. The shifting flakes compliment the shifting base perfectly. My swatch is two coats and a glossy top coat.

I hope you enjoyed my reviews of these polishes. Comments and questions are always appreciated. Thank you for reading my blog.
